The Band.
To say that the Zack Walther Band is the is one of the hardest working bands in Texas would be an understatement.
For the past 2 decades the ZWB has played over 200 shows a year, from every honky-tonk bar to some of the biggest stages in Texas and beyond. This New Braunfels based band has seen and done it all through the years, from supporting some of their musical heroes, like Willie Nelson and the late Leon Russell, to headlining their own tours. Through it all, the Zack Walther Band has become a constant in an ever-changing world we call the Music Business.
If asked to put the Zack Walther band into one genre, it would have to be Country, (the band would say Americana), but they are so much more than that. Over the past 20 years, the Zack Walther Band has released more than a dozen albums including 3 live records and in Christmas 2023 they released their first full length Christmas album, “Home for the Holidays.” The band was signed to Universal Records for their first two studio albums but have since released every record independently. Clearly it is this “post-record label era” where the band has found its true voice that really sets them apart. With songs like “What Kind of Man” and “Flowers on My Grave”, it is obvious that the band is much more than “Country” because they have deep roots in Blues, Rock, Gospel and Soul. The Zack Walther Band blazes their own path instead of following the trends.
As a live band, ZWB is truly unique and unforgettable. At its core, the band is a lean-mean power trio, but sometimes features a fiddle, piano, or horns. At the center of it all are the powerful vocals and impactful lyrics sung by front man Zack Walther. To quote his mentor and country legend singer-songwriter, Rodney Crowell, “Zack, you have a million dollar voice.”
Zack’s childhood friend and long-time musical partner, Matthew Briggs, who could easily be considered a mad scientist, plays an instrument that the guys in the band have come to name “the Kraken.” By his own design, this rig allows Matthew to play drums, guitar, piano and sing, all at the same time. The power trio is rounded out by bassist Corey Shetler, who has been part of the band for the last seven years. It is truly remarkable what a great sound can be made by the just the three guys. After all the albums, 25 years of touring and all the miles between shows, the Zack Walther Band remains passionate about their music and committed to their craft of putting on their best show for their fans every time they step on stage.
